Ryan Richter got his start in garden tractor pulling in 2003 and has remained actively involved in the sport ever since. Since moving into the Pro V-Twin class in 2008, he’s competed in events across the country and has had many successful seasons. Among his most meaningful accomplishments are multiple wins at the Hilliard Winter Championship Tractor Pull and capturing the 2022 Mountain Ridge Pulling Series Champion title.
Outside of competition, Ryan dedicates much of his time to working on and refining his equipment. His hands-on approach has been a constant throughout his pulling career.
About the Tractor – Radical Rat
Ryan’s Pro V-Twin class tractor, Radical Rat, competes in the National Garden Tractor Pulling Series. It’s powered by a 45.5 C.I.D. Kohler Command engine built by Ryan himself. The engine features a billet crankshaft and rods, forged pistons, a roller camshaft, roller rockers and lifters, and recast cylinder heads equipped with oversized titanium valves. It runs on methanol via a recast 1.2 carburetor and billet intake manifold from Ultimate Competition Products, with electronic ignition providing spark.
The chassis is a custom tubular frame designed and built by Ryan and his father, Dave Richter. Finished with custom paint by Bill’s Auto Refinishing, the tractor also features a dry, puck-style clutch and a modified Cub Cadet Original transaxle, converted to four sequential forward gears. The rear end includes a 7.25 Chrysler carrier, heavy-duty axles, a strengthened ring and pinion, and upgraded bearings throughout.
