The Close Encounters Camaro has been a racecar since 1970, and was purchased by Rich Paton Jr in 1978. Rich Jr was one of the toughest racers in his 40+ years of racing the Camaro and earned a spot on the Keystone Raceway Park Hall of Fame Roster before his passing in 2021. Rich III and Tom Paton worked along side Rich Jr for their entire lives while racing their own cars. Truly a family affair.
Rich III took over ownership and driving duties in 2021 and continues to race at Keystone Raceway Park, as well as other tracks in Tennessee, Ohio, Maryland and Pennsylvania.
The Close Encounters Camaro has seen over 100 event wins as well as dozens of second place finishes.
