The Lockheed Martin F-16 Fighting Falcon is an American single-engine supersonic multirole fighter aircraft originally developed by General Dynamics for the United States Air Force. Designed as an air superiority day fighter, it evolved into a successful all-weather multirole aircraft with over 4,600 built since 1976. Although no longer purchased by the U.S. Air Force, improved versions are being built for export.
The 2025 Shop ‘n Save Westmoreland International Airshow welcomes the F-16 Viper Demo Team back to the Arnold Palmer Regional Airport. Major Taylor “FEMA” Hiester, a Pennsylvania native, will showcase the power and maneuverability of this popular single-engine multirole fighter over the skies of Latrobe, PA. Following his demonstration, he will join up with Jim Beasley, Jr. for a Heritage Flight.
Since last performing in Westmoreland, the jet has undergone a makeover and now wears a 50th anniversary livery, originally worn by the YF-16 prototype first flown 1974.
